Shinta Witoyo Dhanuwardoyo

Cultural Strategist | Creative Economy Advisor | Art, Fashion & Lifestyle Innovator | Global Thought Leader

Shinta Witoyo Dhanuwardoyo is a pioneering Indonesian entrepreneur, cultural strategist, and creative economy advisor with nearly three decades of experience at the intersection of technology, fashion, art, and impact-driven innovation. Widely recognized for shaping Indonesia’s digital and creative landscape, she is the Founder & Chairwoman of Bubu, one of Indonesia’s earliest and most respected digital and cultural innovation agencies, established in 1996.

Shinta is an Advisor and Philanthropist to Cita Tenun Indonesia, where she actively supports the preservation and evolution of Indonesia’s traditional weaving heritage. Working closely with women artisans across regions such as Sumba and eastern Indonesia, she champions ethical fashion, cultural sustainability, and inclusive economic empowerment. Her work bridges heritage craftsmanship with modern fashion narratives, branding strategy, and global storytelling, ensuring tradition remains relevant and valued in contemporary markets.

At Bubu, Shinta leads LabX, a multidisciplinary art, fashion, and lifestyle innovation lab/Agency under BUBU, that orchestrates culture-driven collaborations between brands, artists, designers, and creative communities. Under her leadership, LabX has delivered high-impact collaborations such as ADVAN × Darbotz—a landmark project that fused technology with street art to inspire young creators while repositioning a local tech brand through contemporary visual culture.

LabX has also played a role in cross-cultural fashion storytelling involving Sepatu Compass and global music icons such as Tame Impala, demonstrating Shinta’s strength in connecting local brands with global cultural relevance.

In addition, Shinta orchestrated the highly complex collaboration between Machine56 and PUBG Mobile, successfully bringing a local fashion IP into a global in-game environment. Widely regarded as extremely difficult to execute due to IP, licensing, and platform constraints, this collaboration stands as a rare example of fashion seamlessly integrated into interactive digital culture, and a testament to her ability to navigate creative vision within highly regulated global ecosystems.

Beyond art and fashion, Shinta has been a pioneer in redefining gaming culture as lifestyle and fashion. She is the former owner of MORPH, widely recognized as one of the most fashionable esports teams globally. Under her leadership, MORPH made history by becoming the first and only esports team in the world to walk the runway at Jakarta Fashion Week, reframing esports as culture, identity, and style rather than competition alone.

Shinta also plays an active role in shaping Indonesia’s digital and innovation policy ecosystem. She serves as the Head of the Permanent Committee for Research and Technology in the Digital Sector at KADIN (Indonesia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry), a role she has held for over a decade. In this capacity, she contributes to national dialogue on digital transformation, innovation readiness, and the future of the creative economy, while mentoring founders and helping align private-sector innovation with policy and ecosystem development.

On the global stage, Shinta serves as an Advisor to the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Digital Technology Development and is entrusted by the UNITED NATIONS Youth Advisory Board on Digitalization, where she contributes insights on creative industries, youth empowerment, and inclusive digital economies.

She is trusted by leading local and global brands across beauty, fashion, technology, and lifestyle as a consultant and cultural advisor, and actively mentors emerging fashion and lifestyle brands such as Moneyman Works, Deenfamosa (in the work) and Dressed Like Parents, supporting founders in brand positioning, cultural storytelling, and long-term growth.

Deeply embedded in global creative culture, Shinta is known for her highly respected network within sneaker, streetwear, and contemporary art circles, with close relationships spanning influential global figures such as Jeff Staple (Prominent Sneaker persona), Tinker Hatfield (VP of special projects at NIKE), Gaston Dominguez (co-founder of Complexcon) and Takashi Murakami. This access allows her to bridge local talent with global cultural movements, and to translate global creative insight into locally meaningful impact.

A sought-after speaker, moderator, and strategic consultant, Shinta frequently speaks on creative economy, women leadership, ethical and modest fashion, cultural sustainability, and the future of beauty and lifestyle brands in the age of AI and digital transformation. Her work often sits at the intersection of Art, fashion, identity, and self-expression, with a strong focus on empowering women and youth through culture-led narratives.

What distinguishes Shinta is her role as a cultural translator—someone who turns insight into strategy, and values into systems. With a rare blend of entrepreneurship, cultural intelligence, philanthropy, policy leadership, and global exposure, Shinta brings a perspective that is deeply Indonesian yet globally attuned. From mentoring founders to shaping digital policy, from launching global collaborations to scaling youth-driven ventures, she continues to lead with boldness, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to creating impact at scale.
